Sweeties

So I had the awesome opportunity to go to Sweethearts with the greatest guy ever! And my bestest friend :)
We had a blast! I got all fancied up and put on my lovely dress and when Dex picked me up he was really sweet and said, "Wow. You look so pretty!"

That made me all tickly inside :)

Then we went to take pictures in the freezing cold and it was snowing and it was windy!
Kinda miserable, but I had fun and laughed it off with Dex.

We then proceeded to go to Pizza Pie Cafe, but we were reeeaaally early {p.s. our group had about 15 couples} so instead of waiting outside in the Arctic Tundra, we all packed into our cars to stay warm. In my car we swapped stories of our most embarrasing moments and then the boys told stories of camping trips and silly things that happened to them. We had some pretty good laughs.

Finally it was time to eat and so we all hopped out of our cars, Dex was nice and helped me out. I felt pretty special and I always get butterflies when I'm around him.
So we ate pizza/pasta/salad to our tummies' content and every time I got up or sat down in my chair, Dex insisted on pushing in/pulling out my chair. I thought that was really sweet of him.

Then we went and danced the night away! And I found Sadie and we took pictures with our cute dates!

I'm really in love with my dress. Hello! Chevron stripes! How could you NOT be in love with them?!?
{sorry. I get a little excited about Chevron stripes}

Then Dex dropped me off and I fell asleep pretty quickly cause I was pooped!
The whole night was pretty awesome :)

And since this post was pretty long, we'll skip Pinterestingly Enough this week :)

Wonders never cease

Ok. A little back story.
So in January I found that Allred {one of Dex's favorite bands} was playing on February 15th as a Valentine's show. And so I surprised Dex with tickets and he was really excited to go!

So Dex wanted to put his two cents in so, being the really nice person he is, he agreed to take me to go see Safe Haven before we went to the concert. And a side note, that's the only Nicholas Sparks movie that I've cried in. Such a good movie! If anyone has a chance to go see it, go for it :) Dex will probably admit that he liked it very much too.

So after the movie was over, we drove to Provo to the Velour and parked behind some buildings. And unfortunately for Dex and me, we dressed a little bit too cold, cause we had to stand outside the Velour to wait to be let in. So we eventually made it inside and stood around waiting waiting waiting for Allred to come out. Right before he did Dex said, "Geez I'm so nervous. I've got butterflies."

I agreed and I assumed he meant he was nervous to see Allred.

So he eventually came out and I was totally blown away. He has such an incredible voice! And he sounded so good live! Every few songs he would dedicate a song to a couple here and there and I looked at Dex, cause I kinda suspected something, but he was giving me no hints what was gonna happen.

So towards the end of the show, after Allred finished a song, he invited his other band members to come out and play with him. And then he said, "So, um, there's a guy in the room that wants to ask a girl to a dance. And his name is Dex."

My stomach dropped. I looked over at Dex and he was just smiling. Of course then I started freaking out and all the people around me were staring and smiling also. So then Allred started playing my favorite song of his. It's called 'Here' and he played an amazing version of it!

Dex's uncle is buddies with John Allred and so he helped set it up.

And I couldn't stop smiling and shaking. I must have hugged Dex a million times. I was so excited! Then a gal  that was standing behind us came up to me afterwards and asked, "You're gonna say yes, right?"
How could I not??

It was the best date I've ever been on :)

Thanks Dex :)

This morning I woke up and found chocolates for me and Abbey from my parents. How sweet!
Today we went to my friend's house for lunch and Dex was nice enough to be my date and my Valentine's for the day.

{look at that stud. I've been working on my photoshop skills and I was pretty proud how this one turned out}

And tomorrow is gonna rock cause Dex and I are going on a date! Yipeee! I'm really excited cause he's pretty much the coolest person ever.

And also, while sitting on my couch I realized that my hair was getting caught between my back and the seat.

My hair is finally getting longer!

Off into the sunset

I haven't felt this amazing in a long time.

I feel so peaceful and hopeful for the future and I'm more sure of what I'm going to do.
Stay tuned.

But I'm feeling so happy and calm, it kinda freaked Dex out while talking to him on the phone.
Sorry deary.

But I feel like everything is going to be ok.

More than anything I have a testimony of my Heavenly Father's love. He cares for each one of us deeply and wants us to be happy. If we trust in Him, our future is brighter. I can't tell you how grateful I am for Priesthood power. Seriously guys. it's the bee's knees.

I'm so blessed to be where I am.

Those good ol' days

I hate being sick. hate it hate it hate it.

I've had a headache, nausea, congestion and dizziness this week. And I thought I was over it yesterday when I went to a ward party and played in the snow. That would be a NO. It came all back.

I feel terrible. I hate being sick. Summer come back already!!

Speaking of summer, as I was laying in my pathetic, sneezy, achy stupor this morning, a memory came to me.

It was when I lived in Arizona and I was in the 2nd grade. I lived in this one story house with my mom and sister and we lived in this cul-de-sac {pretty sure that's NOT how you spell it, but forgive me. I'm sick}. We had this HUGE tree in our yard and you could climb and climb and you felt on top of the world.
I remember racing my bike home from school in my shorts and sneakers, ready to play with my neighborhood friends. {You see, it's always good weather to be outside in AZ}

We'd bust out the chalk and draw streets and roads and stop signs all over our cul-de-sac and when we were satisfied with our work, we'd ride our bikes along our "roads".

I remember asking my mom if we could have popsicles that were in our garage freezer. She said yes, but only one each. But we were sneaky, mischievous kids and we had about 3 each.
I remember sucking on those popsicles and the juice running down my elbows, and try as I might, my fingers would always become sticky.

Then we would climb my tree and ride our bikes some more. We always hated when the sun began to go down cause that meant our world was ending for the day. And we didn't want it to. We wanted it to last forever and ever.

It's found in the small things

Hey it's February!

I'm so grateful for love and simple acts of love.

I love when my mom makes me breakfast in the mornings

I love that my dad works tirelessly over at our house to get it ready so we can move out of this basement ASAP!

I love that Dex wipes the snow off my car.

I love when Abbey wants to snuggle with me.

I'm surrounded by service and charity and I'm so grateful for that.
